Cooper Tire to Expand Southwest Distribution
Logistics Infrastructure Supports Growth for Tire Manufacturer
FINDLAY, OHIO, August 3, 2005 – COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY (NYSE:CTB) is nearing the final stages of moving into its new Southwest distribution center. The new 400,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to begin operations in mid-September.
Located along the Interstate 20 Crossing in Grand Prairie, Texas, the distribution center will be used for warehousing and distributing products manufactured at Cooper’s plants providing enhanced distribution to the Southwest, South and Midwest.
The facility will utilize the latest in technology with its warehouse management system, specially constructed racks to make use of stacking height and forward shipping area layout, and is equipped with 96 dock doors.
"Cooper’s investment in its logistics infrastructure supports our continued growth in the replacement tire market and will significantly expand our distribution network," says Patricia Brown, vice president, global branding and communications. "Not only will this warehouse continue to enhance the logistics and distribution of our products, it will also increase our already outstanding reputation for excellent customer service."
The distribution center will operate five days a week from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is anticipated that up to 30 additional employees will be hired. Distribution center manager Todd Lemke will manage the new facility. Lemke will be relocating from Cooper’s Cedar Rapids, Iowa, distribution center.
